Current Transducer Technical Information
Starting from simple Current Transformer designs and due to growing demand, we are now able to offer advanced current and voltage measurement like complex signal shapes and high frequencies with high accuracy. We offer support in nearly all markets: Industrial, Automotive, Automation and Renewable Energies.
We are proud to provide you with excellent quality CTs from our partner Tamura.

A Current Transducer is a device for measuring AC and DC currents based on the Hall-Effect technology. The general functionality is described in the following diagram:

BFi OPTiLAS provides Current Transducer using the following two technologies:
1) Open Loop Technology:
Open Loop Transducers use the simplest implementation of the Hall-Effect.
Tamura open Loop

2) Closed Loop Technology:
Closed Loop Transducers have a compensation circuit that improves the performance.

A current carrying conductor positioned through the
aperture of the sensor creates a magnetic field that is
proportionate to the current.
This field is concentrated by the core and sensed by
the Hall Effect element that is mounted in the air gap
of the core.
The Hall generator is connected to the input of the
amplifier which amplified the voltage.
The output is an output voltage.
The primary current lp produces a magnetic flux. This magnetic flux is aligned by a complementary flux produced by driving a current through the
secondary windings.
A hall device and associated electronic circuit generate the compensating current that is used for the output.
The conversion of the output current to an output voltage is easily done by adding a "measurement resistor", RM, in series with the secondary coil.
